Ten Sparrows Builds AI Agents So Atlanta Businesses Don't Get Left Behind

ATLANTA, July 20 (Hypepotamus) - Earlier this year, Hypepotamus covered ATDC’s push to become a launchpad for Georgia-based AI companies. One of the companies building currently inside ATDC isn’t just building AI tools. They are a team ensuring organizations don’t get left behind in the AI Age. 

Ten Sparrows, run by CEO/CTO Jonathan Kyle and COO Marcus Vassell, envision a world where organizations that “​​don't have the resources, don't have the knowledge, don't have the access” to AI are still able to harness its capabilities, Kyle told Hypepotamus. 

Agents designed to augment, not replace

For Ten Sparrows, AI workflows should be designed to “augment, not replace” people within organizations. 

Ten Sparrow’s flagship AI agent products, which the company calls Sparrows, can be deployed to “get stuff done” within an organization. Each Sparrow is configured around an organization's real workflows, approved knowledge, and the people it serves. 

The company's target customers are communities, member-serving organizations, churches, nonprofits, and client-facing teams — groups that often run lean, without dedicated IT or data staff, Kyle and Vassell told Hypepotamus. Handing a nonprofit an off-the-shelf AI tool and expecting the staff to figure it out isn't a strategy, Vassell said; it's a process improvement problem that Ten Sparrows is built to solve directly.

"AI should be for everybody," Vassell said. He started his career in tech support before moving into operations, an entry point that shaped his focus on making AI usable for organizations without a technical bench.

Kyle, a Carnegie Mellon graduate, spent the bulk of his career at Intel and Microsoft before founding Ten Sparrows. That background informs the company's approach to building agents that are configured tightly enough to an organization's actual work that they don't require a learning curve to be useful.

Where the name comes from

The company's name traces back to Kyle's mother, Gwen Ballard Patton. Looking out toward her garden one afternoon, she counted seven, eight, nine sparrows — and thought, why not ten? Kyle uses the name with her permission.

Each AI agent, or Sparrow, is built with “a personality as distinct as a real person with consistent character traits,” the team added. That can help with getting stuff done, staying on top of what matters, or acting like a sounding board.
