Question: What’s The Plain English version of what Coder does? 

Answer: “We provide enterprises the development infrastructure they need to centralize where their developers work. Historically, developers will work on their machines, and that brings with it a whole host of developer experience and security ramifications. Coder is is a way to centralize those disparate environments off those developer laptops on decentralized infrastructure, [so] that these big enterprises — typically regulated enterprises and government agencies — can control and govern the environments where their developers and now agents, AI agents are working.”

Question: Who makes the buying decision within a company? 

“Generally, Coder is championed for by platform engineer type personas. It gets a little fuzzy because now with AI, as we see platform teams splitting off, and they're turning into AI infrastructure teams. But generally, [the buyer] is part of a central team that is responsible for developer infrastructure within that company.”

Question: How do individual developers at a company work with Coder? 

“The beauty of Coder is that we’re changing where [the developer] works, but we're not changing how they work. So they're still using the same tools, the same text editors, now the same agents that they would use whether they were working locally on their laptop or in a Coder environment. But the beauty here is you can actually have your cake and eat it too. The developers continue to work the way they always have, and for the platform and security teams, now they have a deployment model that they can actually approve."

Question: AI agents are ramping up in the workforce today. How does that impact what Coder can do?

“The architectural principles that we built Coder around years ago turned out to be uniquely suited to this AI era. Models and agents are changing and evolving and coming out rapidly. But at the end of the day, the enterprises shouldn't have to rebuild their development platform every time a new tool emerges. Coder actually provides that durable layer beneath that AI innovation that's happening every day. So it's interesting because the problems that we were solving for human developers three or four years ago are largely the same problems that we can now solve for the agentic developers.”
